Grady Harp (Top Contributor: Children’s Books)  (HALL OF FAME) (TOP 100 REVIEWER)

‘Teeny, tiny dragon—he’s not quite like the others; He’s the smallest little dragon, compared to all his brothers.’

Irish author /poet Píaras O Cíonnaoith has published many books – from children’s and adult poetry to books on anger management, genealogy, sexuality, food, stress and tracing Irish roots. Each of his books suggest this is a lad with a fine—tuned sense of humor.

In his Introductory comments he states, ‘The art of Poetry is a subject we learn from a very young age, and provides us with a better knowledge of literature, rhyme scheming, reading skills, and writing skills as well! A child’s imagination is something that seems to fade away as we age, but this book will keep that fire alive!’

And finding joy and a fresh look on imagination is what Piaras shares in this beautifully illustrated collection of rhyming poems. But let the works speak for themselves. The following is an excerpt:

The Happy Mermaid

I swim beneath the water.

My tail’s so shiny and slick.

I love being a mermaid.

I can swim so very quick!

Did you ever swim through seaweed,

under the sea so blue?

It feels like wet spaghetti noodles,

are brushing and tickling you!

I love to jump up in the waves.

I can go so very high.

My mermaid friends come along.

We splish and splash and dive!

My clothes are made of bright seashells.

My hair is green and blue.

I love to swim through tiny bubbles;

I wish you could come, too!

It is a pleasure to encounter a poet who can hypnotize with children’s poems. Prepare for hours of joy! Grady Harp, January 16

A pleasure to read!!!

After reading Piaras O Cionnaoith’s splendid book “Magical Stories,” enjoying it, and writing a long positive review with five stars that I posted on amazon, I turned to “Magic Poetry,” and enjoyed it as well. Piaras O Cionnaoith is a very good writer, and it is a joy to read his books. They are happy and optimistic books that make readers feel good. He calls his books “Magic” and “Magical” because they are wonderfully imaginative.

This 85-page book of rhyming poetry is for people of all ages beginning with age 3. There are 35 poems, each preceded by a child-friendly, eye-catching drawing, and each poem is no longer than a page in length. The book’s introduction tells us about the value of poetry. And there is a dictionary that describes the people who inhabit the magic world, such as an elf, fairy, goblin, leprechaun, beings children hear about and can now better understand.

The following are two examples of the first verses of two poems, Laura the Leprechaun and Gentle Gifts:

Laura the Leprechaun lived in a forest,

Of all the leprechauns she was the smallest,

But she didn’t care, as she was just happy.

Because she was loved much by her pappy.

A gentle breeze passed over my face

I closed my eyes to feel it more

A tender touch from nature’s grace

Days like this I do adore
