Over the course of many generations, it has been observed that the people who populate the region around the Mediterranean Sea live longer lives. Historically, the reason most often attributed to the longevity of the people of the Mediterranean region was climate. However, research has now shown that while the weather patterns of the Mediterranean are generally pleasant and inviting, it was the diet of the people in the region that accounted for their longer lives.

If you are a person like me who has been on the hunt for a solid diet plan, you may feel overwhelmed much of the time. These days it’s nearly impossible for a person to turn on a television set or open a newspaper without being bombarded with advertisements for a variety of different diet plans and products.
